With fall upon us and Halloween quickly approaching, we bet you’re officially starting to get into the spirit of the season. And while that probably includes things like decorating your home, lighting fall scented candles and watching scary movies, we have another way that you can get festive, and it’s with your fruits and vegetables!

Everyone knows that orange is one of of the most popular colors associated with fall and Halloween, so why not make it a priority to eat orange fruits and vegetables over the next few weeks? Here are five of the healthiest kinds:

  1. Oranges. Let’s start with the most obvious. Oranges are probably one of the first fruits that come to mind when you think of this color - after all, their name gives it away - and since they’re filled with tons of nutrients, you can’t go wrong by having one with breakfast, lunch, dinner or for a late night snack!
  2. Carrots. Carrots are our number two since they’re likely the first vegetable you think of when you consider orange veggies. Aside from their ability to help reduce cholesterol and lower your risk of heart disease, carrots are also an attractive vegetable since they can help with keeping your eyes healthy!
  3. Pumpkins. Perfect for this time of year since chances are you’ll be heading out to the pumpkin patch at some point. Focusing on the seeds specifically, snacking on a few can provide multiple benefits, such as the fact that they are a great source of fiber and protein. Additionally, pumpkin seeds can provide potassium, magnesium and even aid in boosting your mood!
  4. Mango. Every time you bite into a mango, you can be helping your body get the iron it needs! Not to mention, some suggest that mangos can help reduce kidney problems, fevers, and potentially even take care of those clogged pores your skin is up against.
  5. Sweet potatoes. You can never get enough vitamins, and sweet potatoes are known to be great providers of vitamins A and Like many of the above sweet potatoes may also help you medically, such as through their ability to stabilize blood sugar.

Although you should be making fruits and vegetables a part of your diet all throughout the year, there’s no better time than fall and Halloween to start munching on some orange varieties. And if you’ll be attending a Halloween party, you can even bring some orange fruits with you in the form of a fruit bouquet! For example, this Halloween themed arrangement includes some cantaloupe wedges, and this fall arrangement has cantaloupe and orange wedges! Now the only thing we have left to say is...enjoy!
