You don’t have to spend a lot of time outdoors or exercising to know that it’s extremely important to stay hydrated, especially in the summer heat. Whether you follow the “drink eight glasses of water per day” rule or have a different guideline that you follow, providing your body with enough water is absolutely essential.

Now, let’s talk a little bit about how you can stay hydrated - did you know that eating certain foods can actually help with your hydration efforts? Below are some of the fruits that we recommend for this purpose:

Watermelons

Watermelons are said to have a water content of 91.5%, making them an excellent food choice on any day where you might not have drank enough. You’ll be able to notice the amount of water they hold as soon as you bite into one - just make sure you actually consume it and that it doesn’t drip down the sides!

Grapefruits

Grapefruits are one of the most commonly recommended fruits for people who are on a journey to lose weight and get fit - and for good reason. But helping you shrink your waistline isn’t all that grapefruit is good for! With a water content of 90.5%, grapefruit can also help you stay hydrated on the hottest of days.

Apples

We know you’ve heard the saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away,” and when you really look at the facts, this may just be true! Apples are known to have a water content of about 84%, which naturally makes them a great source of the refreshing liquid we need to keep our bodies healthy.

Strawberries

Although all berries can be a great source of water, strawberries in particular are thought to be one of the more effective berry types. That’s because they have a water content of 91%, compared to 85% for raspberries and blueberries, and 88.2% for blackberries. If you want to mix things up a bit, try mixing strawberries in with other foods that you eat, such as yogurt. It’s a delicious combination that still allows you to take advantage of their hydrating power!
