First Valentine's Day Together Date Ideas

Every relationship has its milestones your first kiss, the first time you say “I love you,” and your first Valentine’s Day together.

Every relationship has its milestones — your first kiss, the first time you say “I love you,” and your first Valentine’s Day together. And while it may seem a little cliché, this really will be a date you look back on for years to come, so it’s important to make it a good one.

But despite what rom-coms have taught us, there are so many ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day that don’t include an overpriced dinner at a crowded restaurant or an aimless walk through the park. With Valentine’s Day just a few weeks ago, now is the perfect time to plan one of these unforgettable dates.

Ice Skating

Whether you two are pros who glide across the ice hand in hand or need to hang onto each other every step of the way, ice skating pretty much guarantees that you’ll get close. And when you’re done, you two can cozy up near a fire and enjoy some well deserved hot chocolates.

A Beer or Wine Garden

If your first Valentine’s Day is coming up just a few months (dare we even say weeks) after your relationship began, keep things casual by hitting up a bar crawl, winery, or brewery. You’ll get to enjoy a few drinks, play some yard games and probably won’t be surrounded by seasoned couples getting engaged every 15 minutes.

Stay in and Cook a Romantic Meal

If you’re looking to avoid the Valentine’s Day crowds all together by hunkering down in your house, there are still plenty of ways to have a romantic night. Start the night off with your favorite selections of wine and cheese and end it with a beautiful chocolate covered strawberry fruit bouquet that you made yourself!

See a Stand Up Comedy Show

Especially for couples who aren’t the lovey-dovey type, finding something that’s actually fun to do on Valentine’s Day can be a challenge. Whether you get tickets to a big name or see someone just starting out, comedy clubs are fun, yet intimate.

See a Burlesque Show

For a Valentine’s Day that’s as exciting as your night, visit a burlesque show for some good food, drinks, and risque atmosphere.

Karaoke

Especially if you’re looking to go out in a big group, karaoke is always a good idea. Even if singing for a crowd isn’t your thing, grab your partner (and maybe a drink) and belt out a classic couples song — i.e. I Got You Babe, You’re The One That I Want, Cheek to Cheek, and I Need You.

Stay in a Hotel for the Night

If you’ve always wanted to go away together but don’t have the time or money to spend on a lavish vacation, spend the night in a hotel only an hour or two from your home. A relaxing night in a hotel with a hot tub and swimming pool may be exactly what you need to spice up your Valentine’s Day.

Now that you’ve got your plans made, there’s only one thing left to do — get your partner a gift they’ll love!
